Recycling Centres provided a service
to Hotels, Clubs, Restaurants and Social Clubs etc. whereby receptacles are
provided to place empty beverage containers in. These are either collected
under a schedule system or on demand and are replaced with empty ones on a
one for one changeover system.
Products collected from these
include all deposit bearing plastic, glass and aluminium containers, wine
bottles and flagons. Additionally, and at the same time as these pick-ups,
some centres will collect cardboard in wool bales. A fee of between three
and five dollars per bale is normally charged for this service.
Under the above a payment system
is negotiated for all commodities collected other than for the cardboard.
There are no added collection costs paid for this service other than for the
collection of the cardboard.
Charitable Groups
Charitable organisations from time to time organise bottle/fundraising drives
as a means of income, and equipment is provided free of charge to assist.
Kerbside Recycling
Some Recycling Centres are either involved in the collection, processing or
both of materials through this system and this is carried out through contracts
with the individual councils.
Household Collection Service
Many Centres have their own individual collectors who provide a household
collection service for those not having transport to enable containers to
be returned to the depots. These people collect from door to door at a reduced
rate to what would have been paid had they been returned to the centre itself.
Major Outdoor
Events Infrastructure is put into place at all major outdoor events and a
collection service is provided.
