Should manufacturers choose the latter, a retailer who sells that particular beverage must accept containers and pay refunds and the manufacturer/distributor has to make arrangements for the collection of the containers and reimbursements to the retailer.
In addition Regulations exempting alcoholic cider and refillable glass soft drink containers have been repealed.
Manufacturers and distributors should contact the EPA if they require confirmation as to whether a beverage container is covered by the Beverage Containers provisions of the Environment Protection Act, 1993.
